Three Phase
Two types of Products
Panel Units and Custom-Sized Units
Both are available in Single Phase and Three Phase.
Panel Units
Our "Off the Shelf" Three Phase (3 ø ) Units come in 4 sizes. Size needed can be determined by your Circuit Breaker Panel size.
A "Panel Unit" may be indicated for multiple small and/or intermittent motors.
If most of the circuits in a panel is for lighting, a Kvar unit is not needed in that panel. Kvar savings are on inductive loads, not resistive.
For large motors or if you have a large amount of inductive loads, a "Custom-sized" unit may be indicated.
Model Numbers are designated by:
PU: Designates "Panel Unit"
Phase: Three Phase (3)
Amps: Circuit Breaker Panel Size

"Custom-Sized" Units
Custom-sizing units to individual loads is recommended by the US Department of Energy.
"Excessive current draws due to low power factors also cause excessive system voltage drops. Operating motor-driven equipment under low voltage conditions results in efficiency decreases, motor overheating, and subsequent diminished motor life. By adding power factor correction capacitors, you can restore operating voltage to proper design conditions."
